Our ingredients are natural and many are certified organic. Our handmade products are made in small batches to ensure their quality. We do not subject the ingredients to any chemical processes or high heat, which can damage their amazing properties. For this reason our shea butter is unrefined - and we are happy to accept any colour, texture or slight scent variations that may occur, over using the chemically refined alternative.
We use ethical packaging opting for glass bottles and jars and actively support recycling via our loyalty scheme.
Our ambition is to deliver high quality luxurious natural and organic skin and hair treats at affordable and accessible prices.
My Story...
Like any first time mother-to-be I automatically became very critical of anything I ate or products I used on my skin whilst pregnant. The journey was daunting enough that I didn't want to potentially harm my "bump" with anything I was using in my daily routine. The first change I made was to stop chemically straightening my hair. My hair had been straightened since I was 11 years old, so learning how to cater for my naturally curly hair was a massive learning curve - I had to do a lot of research. This journey of discovery opened my eyes to the wider issue of harsh ingredients used in our everyday skin and hair products, many of which have been linked to cancers and other serious illnesses.
By going back to basics I started coming across natural ingredients that rang bells from my upbringing: "ingredients from home" such as shea butter, cocoa butter and coconut oil. Having West African parents these are staples that I had been exposed to as a child/teen, However I disregarded their benefits as I didn't hear about them in mainstream beauty, and they weren't on the shelves in the beauty stores - so how could they possibly be good enough? My 'natural journey' was one of rediscovering the beauty of the ingredients nature has to offer. I began making products for family use, and then as gifts for friends. Being fully confident with the recipes and benefits of the products led to the introduction of LoveShea - a chance to share with the world.
